JON Underwood has explained that everyone at Slough Town must improve in order to get their promotion push back on track this season.

The Rebels have taken just four points from their last four matches in the Southern Premier Division, leaving them in seventh position in the league table.

Underwood still has faith in the squad at Arbour Park but he accepts people must start to take responsibility for their level of performance.

The Slough joint-manager told the Observer: “We will work hard to give us the best chance of winning games and get us into the position we need to be in, which is the play-offs.

“We believe in what we’ve got but if we can improve the strength of the squad then we will.

“It’s not so much about the strength of the squad, but more about our consistency and levels of performance which we’ve struggled to find in recent months.

“We’ve not repeated the levels we had earlier in the season in recent months and we’re looking for answers.

“We fully believe that the lads are capable but we can’t keep on dropping points and have to do something about it. We’ve all got to step up and improve because we’re all responsible.

“There will be nothing more than tweaks and not wholesale changes because you don’t become a bad side overnight.

“We’ve been a little bit off previous levels and if the players don’t step up then we will need to address that as managers. We’ve all got to step up and improve because we’re all responsible.”

Slough have signed striker Perry Coles from Farnborough and is expected feature in the squad for the trip to Kings Langley this Saturday (3pm).

Underwood said: “We’ve been down to watch Farnborough quite a lot because it’s our local club and seen a bit of Perry.

“He’s very hungry, works incredibly hard and is a very good finisher. His goal return in a side that doesn’t create as many chances as we do is very good.

“Our goals have dried up a little and none of our strikers are banging them in at the moment, so we wanted to do something and will let them fight it out amongst themselves.

“Perry will get the chance to prove himself very early on.”
