SLOUGH Town and Basingstoke Town have agreed to reverse the two upcoming Southern Premier Division fixtures.
The agreement was made on Wednesday in an attempt to minimise further disruption to scheduling caused by the current weather conditions.
The Rebels will now host Basingstoke at Arbour Park next Tuesday (7.45pm) and then make the trip to the Camrose Stadium on Saturday, March 24.
Slough joint-manager Neil Baker explained to the Observer: “We just felt it was right to switch the fixtures because, although there will be no more snow forecast, there will be a big thaw and rain is due.
“Basingstoke are a good side with good young players that train full-time, but we’re now at home next Tuesday so people will expect us to turn up and get the three points.”
The Rebels are scheduled to travel to promotion rivals Weymouth this Saturday (3pm) but that match is unlikely to go ahead.
Baker said: “There’s a lot more snow due so we will struggle to get the game on at the moment. It will probably be postponed but we will have to wait and see.
“If the match is postponed it means we will probably have to go there on a Thursday evening at some point but that’s just one of those things.”
