Nathan Bowden-Haase could make the most of Yiadam Yeboah's long throws if he signs.
STEVE Bateman has refused to rule out a move to strength his defence with the possible signing of Yiadam Yeboah.
The no nonsense centre back has been recently released from Hemel Hempstead Town, Bateman's former club, along with Adam Bernard, and the Rebels supremo is in discussions with Yeboah who was due to train with Slough on Thursday night.
He also expressed an interest in Adam Martin who is still at Hemel but looks likely to go to Ireland to play.
"One of the two players recently released by Hemel we are certainly interested in signing," confirmed Bateman.
"Yiadam Yeboah is a player I've worked with and I've had a conversation with, but that's no reflection on what we've already got. I don't want to upset the apple cart.
"I'm pleased with what we have got here but if I can add another central defender that would be great. It is perhaps the one area we are looking at as Graeme Edwards is at least three or four weeks away from action.
"I did make a formal approach for Yiadam Yeboah when the injury to Graeme Edwards was diagnosed."
It is not just the defensive skills of Yeboah that interests the boss as he is also a lethal weapon in the opponent's half and could well add something to Slough's attacking threat from set pieces.
There is also the possibility of further additions to the squad for a hectic run-in.
Bateman commented: "He is an effective central defender and all over you like a rash and he has a Rory Delap type throw. He doesn't use it all the time but, especially at this level, Nathan Bowden-Haase is a huge threat in the box.
"I have spoken to a few other managers, not in the Zamaretto (Southern) League, about dual registering players to make sure we are not caught short in a busy time so we will see about that.
"I would be interested in signing Adam Martin but I believe he is going to Ireland to play.
"We've got a really good spirit, a really good group who work hard for each other, but it will be a tough run of games so we might need to add to that squad.
"There is not a rush to sign anyone up though, we have got quality wherever you look."
