SLOUGH Jets head coach Slava Koulikov has announced the resigning of Mindaugas Kieras ahead of the 2012/13 season.

Kieras is a vastly experienced player within the English Premier League and is one of the most versatile defenceman in the league.

He scored at over half a point per game last season while staying at the back but his point production from his two years at Basingstoke Bison show him to also be a good point scorer when needed.

With a highly successful career in Lithuania Keiras came to the UK playing with the Edinburgh Capitals in the eight import British National League before joining Solihull Barons in the English Premier Ice Hockey League where he has since played for Milton Keynes Lightning and Basingstoke Bison.

The proud Lithuanian has represented his country consistently every season over the last 15 years at both junior and senior level.

After representing Slough at Coventry in their successful Play-off finals weekend Kieras immediately left for the World Championships and recorded 1+2 from his 3 games in Division One.

Koulikov was understandable happy with his latest deal and said; "Mindy is a big resigning for us, he's been targeted by quite a few EPL teams this summer but I'm really pleased he's signed back with us.

"He has shown over the last few seasons what a top defenceman he is and he showed all the Jets fans last year as well, helping the team to the play-off title.

"He's got a good offensive brain too and a massive shot which makes him double the player. He'll be playing a lot for us, special teams as well and to have a player like Mindy at the back is huge.

I've spoken to Mindy about the team we're having this season and he knows that he'll be a leader for us both on and off the ice. He's a highly skilled defence man who'll be a big presence on the ice and I'm sure will finish the season once again as one of the top EPL defence man"

Kieras said of the decision to return; "I enjoyed my first year with the Jets last season and winning the play-offs was a great way to finish to the season.

"When Slava talked to me about the team he is putting together for this season I was pleased to re-sign and I look forward to playing a part again and hopefully contributing to more success for Slough".
