M4 MOTORWAY, JUNCTION 5 (A4) TO JUNCTION 15 (A346) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the M4 Motorway Road in the Unitary Authorities of Slough, Windsor & Maidenhead, Bracknell Forest, Wokingham, Reading, West Berkshire, Wiltshire, and Swindon, and the County of Buckinghamshire, under section14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order is to authorise the following:
(a) to impose an overnight temporary mandatory 50mph speed restriction on lengths of both carriageways of the M4 between Junction
5 (A4) and Junction 15 (A346) and;
(b) to authorise the phased overnight closure of -
(i) lengths of the M4 carriageways described in (a) above,
(ii) the slip and link roads leading to and from both carriageways of the M4 described in (a) above.
These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake a 12 month programme of planned cyclical maintenance. A copy of the M4 Cyclical Maintenance Programme is available from the Customer Contact Centre (contact details below).
The duration of each closure or restriction will vary depending on the nature of the maintenance work being undertaken on each occasion. The programme of works will start on or after 1 January 2017. The closures and restrictions will be in operation between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum period). Access to and from premises accessible from, and only from, the lengths of carriageway to be closed will be permitted.
The Order will come into force from the 1 January 2017 and have a maximum duration of twelve months. During closures above, traffic affected will be diverted via other junctions of the M4, or by using the A4, A3044, A308, A308M, A3113, A322, A3290, A3290, A329M, A33, A338, A339, A34, A355, A355, A404M, A4155, A419, B3270, B4192 or the M25. They will vary depending on the closure in place and will be clearly signed. The temporary mandatoryspeed restrictions, slip road, link road and carriageway closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works periods.
