TWO extra performances have been added to a run of shows in Reading Prison about the trials of Oscar Wilde after huge demand from audiences.

The play, Oscar Wilde on Trial, tells the story of Wilde's experience at the Old Bailey in early 1895 and is set to be performed in The Chapel at the prison from Thursday, September 29 to Saturday October 1.

Wilde was found guilty of “extensive corruption of the most hideous kind among young men” after three trials at the Old Bailey in early 1895 and sentenced to two years in prison.

Adapted from transcripts of the trials by Beth Flintoff, theatre company Reading Between the Lines present the special performances in the same jail Wilde spent two years incarcerated.

An extra 9.30pm show has been added on Thursday (Sept 29) and Friday (Spet 30) and more tickets released for the three 8pm performance on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Note that there is limited disabled access to the Chapel at Reading Prison.
