WORK to revamp Slough High Street has been hit by another delay.

The regeneration of the shopping parade will not be completed by Sunday, May 31.

Slough Borough council confirmed the delay this week. A spokeswoman added that although the majority of the work such as paving, lighting, seating and planting will all be finished by the end of this month, four pieces of artwork are due to be completed by June.

This includes a radar sculpture near the My Council building, two lamp lights near The Grove and a multi coloured light box on the floor outside The Observatory Shopping Centre, pictured.

The £6m Art At The Centre project, which began in October 2007, was originally planned to be finished before December last year but unexpected problems hindered the speed at which work could be completed.

This has had a major impact on traders who claim the mess has put shoppers off from spending money in their stores in the past.
