AN INDIAN politician visited Slough last week to meet with old school friends, the mayor and a councillor.

Rana Gurjit Singh, an MP and member of the Indian National Congress party met with former mayor Balvinder Singh Bains who he studied with in Shimla Hills, India and others in the mayor’s parlour on August 7.

Mr Bains said: “He is a well known politician in India, I felt proud that he was visiting Slough.

“It felt brilliant to have him here, especially after talking about it for so long.”

Mr Gurjit Singh has been planning a visit to Slough for a number of years but was unable to until now.

Mr Bains had hoped to welcome Mr Singh to the town while he was mayor from 2006 to 2014 and organised this event with current mayor Cllr Chaudhry.

Balwinder Randhawa, Sukhdeep Singh and Slough Cllr Zaffar Ajaib also attended.
