CASH was raised for a cancer charity as a bingo club's staff battled it out at a football tournament.

Gala Bingo clubs across the region took part in the Slough Charity Football tournament with the Slough branch raising £2,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Staff member Lucy Thomson organised the event in memory of her grandad who received support from Macmillan during his treatment for cancer.

She said: “It was great for all one region to become one and raise money for a charity so close to my heart.

"Both Gala Bingo staff and members battled it out to be winners if the The Slough Charity football tournament, it was very competitive.”

Gala Bingo Slough won the tournament, with each team being formed of staff, club members and at least one woman.

Around two million people across the UK are living with the consequences of a cancer diagnosis, and Macmillan provides medical, emotional, financial and practical help for cancer patients, from specialist cancer nurses to grants to cancer patients with money problems.
