Shocked staff and customers at the Travelodge Hotel near Colnbrook were awoken with a horrifying crash just after midnight this morning - when a car is believed to have smashed into the building.
Police were called to the suspected ramraid at the hotel which is in Calder Way, just off Horton Road, Poyle.
Substantial damage was caused and a fullscale evacuation of the hotel had to be organised because the smoke alarms went off.
A total of 200 guests had to assemble in the car park.
Firefighters from Slough also attended the scene.
There was no sign of the vehicle believed to have been used in the raid but police have launched a full investigation.
