The Mayor of Slough, Ishrat Shah, has sent a letter to the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Eddy Newman, wishing him the town's best in the light of the terror attack last week.
Here is the letter in full.
Dear Lord Mayor,
It is with profound sorrow that I send this personal message to you following the events in Manchester on Monday evening.
I cannot imagine the depth of despair you must feel but hope and pray that you will find the strength you need to carry out your mayoral duties and to sustain the courage of those who will rely on you so heavily.
The communities of Slough send their sympathies to the many people of your city and across the UK who have been touched by this terrible tragedy. A vigil was held in our town centre last night and we stand with you united in our belief of freedom, community and peace.
My personal thoughts and those of the citizens of Slough are with you all at this sad time.
Yours sincerely
Councillor Ishrat Shah Mayor of Slough
