THE ANNUAL Slough Canal Festival attracted over 4,000 people over the weekend.
The festivities at Bloom Park, Langley, included a huge range of activities, such as falconry, ferret racing, sheepdog displays, miniature steam engines, trampolines, arts and crafts, and boat rides down the canal.
The event, on the Grand Union Canal, was free of charge, and is run by Slough Borough Council for the community. It is supported by Inland Waterways.
Another sponsor of the event, Slough Urban Renewal, ran a raffle to raise money for the Mayor’s chosen charity, that she selects at the end of each year.
Naturally, there was also a huge gathering of canal boats. Lynsey Hellewell, chief organiser of the event and events and commercial officer for Slough Borough Council, said: “We seem to have more boats turn up each year - the more the merrier.
“I think the duck herding was the most fun – it was just so different. The falconry was also good, as it really got the public involved.”
