RAI ‘SUNNY’ Singh shone for Slough on Saturday when scoring four times in their 8-2 win over Ashford at Upton Court Park.

He has made a sensational start to the season and is playing with increasing confidence, especially in the opposing team’s circle.

Singh has now netted 12 goals in six games, leaving him as the joint-leading scorer with PHC Chiswick’s Nick Giles in the Middx, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Regional One standings.

Johannes Kloss converted two penalty corners to take his tally to seven goals, while Bobbie Bansal, the team’s hot shot from last season, and Mohammed Ali Rahman completed the rout.

Slough dominated the opening 35 minutes and were five goals up at half-time.

Ashford, who have managed only one win this campaign, showed some determination in the second-half to pull two goals back through Alex Betts and Shujah Ur Rehman.

But, that was as close as it got, with Slough regaining control and scoring three further goals.

With three wins and a draw, Slough move up to fifth in the table, one place behind Maidenhead, who drew 3-3 with leaders Oxford 1sts.

And Oxford, the only unbeaten team in Regional One, are next up for Slough. The match being played at Oxford Brookes University Centre for Sport this Saturday with a 2.30pm push-back.

Oxford are the division’s top scorers with 26 goals – just one more than Slough – and also boast the best defensive record with just seven goals conceded in six games.

They will be a tough nut to crack, but improving Slough are certainly capable of causing an upset if Singh and Co are on song.
