CONCERNED parents have started a petition for a zebra crossing after a young boy was injured by a motorcyclist.
Matteo Pelazza, six, was knocked down on the road on January 29. The road is frequently crossed by children, either on the way to and from school, and on the weekends to enter and leave the park. However, there are currently no marked crossing points.
One parent, Amy Lawrence, has started a petition to get the Royal Borough to consider installing a marked road crossing on the intersection between Horton Road and Link Road.
Ms Lawrence wrote: “The shear number of children making the crossing here daily meant it was just a matter of time before someone was knocked down.
“As it stands, it’s just a matter of time before someone is killed.”
At the time of writing, the petition has gathered 348 signatures.
You can sign the petition at http://petitions.rbwm.gov.uk/DatchetZEBRA/. The petition closes on March 3.
