A FOOTBALL stadium has won major awards for building design.

Arbour Park football stadium won two awards at the regional Local Authority Building Control (LABC) excellence awards, which were held on Friday.

The £8.4 million Arbour Park facility was named the best public service building and the best inclusive building for the Central district of the awards, which includes Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire.

The stadium has been automatically shortlisted for the national LABC awards, which are to be held in London on November 9.

Andy Howell, general manager of Slough Urban Renewal (SUR), that built the stadium, said: “We are extremely proud of Arbour Park and are delighted with the increase in everyone taking part in sporting activities and the amazing rise of Slough Town Football Club now they have a home in the borough.

“SUR is all about providing regeneration and being a catalyst for change within Slough and seeing our buildings and Slough vision become award winning again is very satisfying.”
