FIREFIGHTERS have worked hard to tackle a grass fire today (Wednesday), as the heatwave continues.
Four fire engines were called out to a field between Crown Lane and Blackpond Lane, Britwell, today at around 1.30pm, following reports of a grass fire.
There was no damage to property, although getting to the fire to extinguish it proved a challenge.
Firefighters left the scene after about two hours. A spokesman for Slough Fire Station reminded residents to be careful in the hot and dry weather.
The spokesman said: "Residents should be very careful about lighting bonfires, as well as disposing of cigarettes and barbecues. If you must light a fire, ensure that you have a hosepipe nearby so that you can keep it under control."
