A NEW campaign is looking for new recruits to help tackle the stigma around mental health.

Time to Change Buckinghamshire is a network of local organisations and individuals who work alongside the national Time to Change campaign in order to fight against negative attitudes towards those with mental health problems.

The group is calling for new 'Champions' to aid them in their fight – ordinary people with personal experience of mental health problems. Becoming a Champion is a flexible and voluntary commitment, and those in the programme might undertake tasks such as telling their story in the media, running an activity in a cafe or at work, or simply speaking up when those around you say damaging things about mental health.

Martyn Walsh, a Trustee at Buckinghamshire Mind and a Time to Change champion, said: "I know from my own personal experience how a kind word and a positive attitude from other people really helps make the day better for people who have a mental health problem.

"The more we can do to help encourage a change in attitudes across Buckinghamshire, the better. You can be a Time to Change champion and do as much or as little as you like, so please get in touch."
