Hopes that Eton could soon get its own ‘information centre’ are growing all the time.

Supporters have already raised £20,000 - with contributions made by Eton Community Association, Eton Town Council and the Prince Philip Trust Fund.

Chairman of Eton Community Association Ros Rivaz said this week that forms sent out had received 150 replies from people interested in having a centre and full of ideas of what sort of service it should provide.

The centre is a joint enterprise between Eton Town Council and Eton Community Association and Ms Rivaz said that they were now keeping their fingers crossed that the Royal Borough would come up with £50,000 to refurbish the venue so that the centre could open.

Eton College has agreed to make premises in the High Street once occupied by Old Windsor Wine Shop available.
