WET weather failed to dampen the spirits of the 350 people who attended the third open air harvest event run by Langley's three churches at the Memorial Park on Saturday.
Reverend Robin Grayson from the Anglican church said that the rain meant only half as many people came as last year. But five schools and five charities were represented and everyone wanted a go at entertaining the visitors - outside and in the marquees which offered some protection against the rain.
The Foxborough School Choir members sang their hearts out, the Holy Family School Choir performed, Marish School had its steel band, while the Djembe Drummers of Langley Hall Primary Academy gave it their all.
Ryvers School pupils staged a performance of a drama about homelessness, which was followed poignantly by a speech from a representative of Slough's homeless charity SHOC.
The Slough Foodbank was also represented.
The whole afternoon was organised by the Anglican church, Langley Free Church and Holy Family Catholic church.
Reverend Robin Grayson of the Langley Marish parish acted as master of ceremonies.
He said: "The event was all about creating a sense of community, showing our thanks for the good things while remembering those who lack even the basic things. I think we all felt a bit inspired by the end."
