The battle against flytippers at the Sutherland Grange recycling unit has intensified - with the installation of new bins and CCTV cameras.
The bins replace the old container unit that used to be emptied weekly Cllr Ed Wilson, who represents the Clewer South ward and has campaigned for improvements to the site said: “The changes made by the council are a great start but fly-tippers need to be prosecuted for abusing the site.”
The recycling centre was moved to the layby in Maidenhead Road from its earlier home at Tinkers Lane Dedworth in 2011 to make way for the new Windsor Fire station.
Cllr Wilson pointed out weeks ago that it had deteriorated badly with bins overflowing and glass, aluminium, clothes and shoes being dumped on the ground. Fellow Conservative councillor Jesse Grey, cabinet member for environmental, believes a longer-term solution for recycling of household waste in Clewer and Dedworth needs to be found.
