A celebrated doctor whose work pinpointing the best diets for diabetes sufferers has been transforming peoples’ lives Slough had words of wisdom to share with an eager audience on Tuesday.
Doctor Kesar Sadhra was a special guest at a gathering of Slough Senior Citizens Group at Chalvey Community Centre, where he was presented with a Community Service award.
His practice - Manor Park Medical Centre in Lerwick Drive - has a 90 per cent South Asian patient population.
After analysing the diets of his diabetic patients, Doctor Sadhra came up with a plan for low carbohydrate diets that has had enormous success over a 10 year period and led to him addressing the Public Health Collaboration conference in Manchester last year.
Appropriately, his talk to Slough Senior Citizens Group on Tuesday was entitled How To Take Care of Yourself in Old Age and was followed by a lively question and answer session.
During the morning guests also learned relaxation techniques from Justine Clifford and enjoyed a presentation by the founder of the group Vijaya Gupta, who took members through its recent history outlining the many activities and services it offers, The morning ended with lunch and Bollywood-style music.
