Pupils and staff who have helped Slough's Herschel Grammar School flourish in its present home for 60 years got together again last week to swop stories and remember old times.

The 60th anniversary celebration party at the school in Northampton Avenue was a great success - welcoming the town's MP Tan Dhesi and mayor Cllr Paul Sohal who made congratulatory speeches.

School development manager Jose Rodriguez said: "We had former pupils and staff from 30 to 40 years back and it was a real chance for people to sit down and have natter."

The school orchestra entertained, Year 7 students offered guided tours and there was a great exhibition of school photographs and documents from the six decades which caught everyone's attention.

Younger visitors also enjoyed the bouncy castle, games on the school field and the ice cream van.

While a beautiful celebration cake made by kitchen manager Anne Lyons was cut by Mr Dhesi and headteacher Jo Rockall.

It was a day to remember.
