A headteacher and her pupils were celebrating this week after achieving a ‘good’ rating from Government inspectors.
Datchet St Mary’s CE Primary School on the Green had been rated as ‘requiring improvement’ for four years.
It has now had its first Ofsted inspection since welcoming headteacher Nicola Green in 2016 and joining Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust in 2017.
In the new report rating the school ‘good’ inspector Liz Bowes praised the headteacher’s vision and drive, along with the staff who ‘share her passion and determination to keep improving the school’.
In particular the report highlighted the school’s curriculum and ‘rich experiences’. Pupils talked about having enjoyed a talk from a female polar explorer, produced plays with professional actors and directors, developed their artistic skills with graphic designers and taken part in mini-enterprise projects.
The school will celebrate with an open day for the community on November 1.
