A DRUG dealer who was caught by police in the town centre has been jailed for three years.

Kane Carter, of no fixed abode, admitted to to one count of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and one count of possession with intent to supply heroin.

The 23-year-old was convicted at Reading Crown Court on October 15 and sentenced on the same day.

At around 7.45pm on September 12 at at The Oracle Shopping Centre, officers observed Carter, who appeared to be exchanging items with a number of people,

When they went to stop him he ran off and he was arrested near the canal.

A search was carried out and officers found a quantity of drugs which were tested and found to be heroin and crack cocaine.

Police constable Nicola Henderson of the Reading Stronghold Team, said: “Targeting those who deal drugs is a top priority for Thames Valley Police particularly those who seek to deal drugs across county lines.

“Carter saw fit to make a profit from drug dealing, this will be not be tolerated in the Thames Valley.

“Thames Valley Police will continue to target drug dealing through our Stronghold campaign which targets serious and organised crime by working in partnership, and only with the support and information from the public can we do this.”
