DON'T miss out on the Spooks and Sparks firework event being held at Homer First School in Testwood Road next Thursday, November 1.

The school's parent teacher association the Friends of Homer are hoping it will raise money to revive its existing woodland area which was established to help children understand and appreciate nature but is in need of upgrading.

Mixing Hallowe'en and bonfire night into one event could be just the way to do it.

Children who come to the event will be invited to wear fancy dress so there is plenty of opportunity to 'play the ghoul'.

Gates open at 5.30pm and the fireworks start at 7pm.

Lesley Sinclair, chairman at Friends Of Homer, said: “This is a fantastic family event, with a 20-minute professional fireworks display, together with food, drinks and glow toys. Tickets are selling fast."

Tickets are £7 per person or £25 for a family of four.

But be warned, alcohol and sparklers may not be brought in.
