STONEMASON Andy Chalk pulled out all the stops to get a new marble stone installed in time for Sunday’s Remembrance Day Service on Datchet Village Green.
The new stone was added to the existing War Memorial just in time - after the names of 11 previously unrecognised soldiers were discovered by researchers from Datchet Village Society.
Andy worked frantically to get it ready in time for Armistice Day.
The men’s names are now engraved alongside those of 54 other men commemorated on the memorial.
They were read out for the first time at Sunday’s service and a wreath was laid by a descendent of one of the men.
