PAST and present met when Colnbrook held its centenary memorial service in the village on Sunday.
There were horses led by a soldier in convincing looking First World War uniform. But also in the parade was a 21st century soldier in his uniform.
Parish council chairman Cllr Puja Bedi said: "A member of the Residents' Association dressed up in the uniform and we had a soldier who is serving now taking part."
A village resident provided the horses, who stirred memories of the First World War 'war horses' whose stories have only recently come to be told.
The community parade in the morning containing all the village organisations passed from Dickens Place through to St Thomas Church which had been decorated with poppies made into a lavish display by villagers.
In the evening the village's own beacon was lit in the churchyard in front of four silhouetted soldier figures.
