A MAN has been sentenced to 16 months in jail after he was caught trying to supply cannabis.

Callum McMichael, Deveron Drive, admitted to to one count of possession with intent to supply at Reading Crown Court.

On 9 July at around 7pm, the 25-year-old was driving a Ford Fiesta on Dwyer Road, Reading when he was pulled over by two Thames Valley Police officers.

McMichael was found to be in possession of a quantity of cannabis as well as £411 in cash.

He was charged with one count of possession with intent to supply cannabis the following day.

McMichael was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge and forfeited the £411 in cash.

Police constable Nicola Henderson, investigating officer from the Reading Stronghold team, said: “Tackling the illegal supply of drugs in Reading is a priority for Thames Valley Police.

“We will continue to work hard to investigate and prosecute those committing crime in our communities and we will not tolerate people like McMichael who seek to make a profit from selling drugs.
