A PRIMARY school has been judged as outstanding in their latest report as the new headteacher continues to provide ‘excellent leadership’.

The new headteacher at the Cranbourne Primary School in Winkfield has received praise for providing ‘inspirational leadership’ and ‘excellent teaching’. Mrs Paula Jenkins, who only joined the school in September this year has made great improvements.

Mrs Jenkins said: “I am thrilled that the report highlights the hard-work and commitment overtime, of the teaching staff, senior leaders and governors.

“Most importantly, the inspectors recognised that the pupils of Cranbourne enjoy coming to school, feel valued and cared for and are extremely proud of their school!”

The latest Ofsted inspection report identified several key strengths within the schools, including the teaching staff holding ‘high expectations’ and ‘aspirations’ for the academic success of each and every pupil. Students at the school were noted for their high achievement in core subjects, which impressed Ofsted judges because their grades are above national averages.

Councillor Gareth Barnard, executive member for children, young people and learning commented: “My congratulations to the Headteacher and the whole Cranbourne School community for the outstanding Ofsted judgement.

“It is clear from the report that in offering a broad-based curriculum, enthusiastically and expertly taught that the school helps all of its pupils to achieve to the best of their ability and also prepares them well for their future endeavours.”

The school has improved significantly over the last few years, in 2003 the schools teaching was judged as ‘unsatisfactory overall’ and in 2012 and 2014 they were rated ‘good’.
