YOUNG people who have dedicated their time to the community were recognised when the Aik Saath charity held its presentation evening at the Curve in Slough.

The words Aik Saath mean Together As One in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. The charity works with people from all communities, faiths and backgrounds to promote and encourage conflict resolution and community cohesion through training, campaigns and projects.

Slough's deputy mayor Avtar Kaur Cheema presided over the presentation evening which saw 84 young people recognised for more than 3,000 hours of volunteering for the community.

During the event Janet Morgan was given special recognition for her work as trustee since the organisation's inception 20 years ago.

She was presented with an award and a bouquet of flowers by young volunteer Robert Buburuz, 11.

The Christine Boom Memorial Award for Service was presented to Ruby Hussain and Sanna Malik.
