The results of the 2018/19 Residents’ Survey in Windsor and Maidenhead have been unveiled.

Conducted by DJS Research on behalf of the council, the survey measured resident’s satisfaction in several areas relating to council operations. Overall, residents of Ascot and the South or Windsor were more likely to be ‘very satisfied’ with the local area than Maidenhead residents (54 percent and 47 percent in comparison with 38 percent.)

Overall, residents of Maidenhead were more critical of the area in several areas. The were less satisfied with living in the local area, less satisfied with the way the Council runs things, less likely to agree that the Council provides value for money, less likely to speak positively about the Council and less likely to agree the Council acts on residents’ concerns.

When asked what made the area a good place to live, relatively low rates of crime were praised highest by residents with 36 percent of responses citing this as the most important factor in making the area a good place to live. 31 percent listed the facilities/amenities/services as the most important factor, with 27 percent praising the cleanliness of the local area. 23 percent commended the public transport services, schools and the green spaces available for residents to enjoy.

The issue of road and road maintenance however was by far the issue that residents stated needed improving by the council. 43 percent of participants who offered improvements listed this as an area that needed addressing, with the joint-second most important area for improvement being safety/policing/low crime and parking with 15 percent saying these needed improvements.

Speaking on the findings, Councillor Michael Airey said: “The RBWM council’s results compare favourably against comparable national benchmarking across all the key indicators.

“These data show that the council continues to be successful in providing high quality, value for money services to RBWM residents.”
