A Slough school has brandished rumours of a child dying after being attacked as “inappropriate gossip”.
Rumours circulated on social media over the weekend that a child had been set upon and killed on Friday at Slough and Eton School.
However, headteacher Peter Collins released a statement quelling the rumours, saying: “There has been some untrue reporting of a child from Slough and Eton dying over the weekend following an incident at school on Friday.”
“I would like to reassure parents this is not the case at all and caution all against believing inappropriate gossip shared on social media.”
The school did confirm that a student was injured on the football pitches at the end of breaktime, but also clarified that no one incurred serious injuries.
Slough and Eton School also confirmed that they are following up on the incident with its usual investigation procedures.
