Two High Wycombe men have been jailed for more than eight years in total after attacking a driver in 2017.

The victim, a 25-year-old man, was driving in High Wycombe and was approaching the junction of Kingston Road and Totteridge Drive on January 6, 2017, when a blue Ford Focus, driven by Wasin Yasin, 27, crashed into the victim’s vehicle.

Yasin, of Cumbrian Way, then got out of his car and started attacking the victim with a baton-type weapon.

Adnan Iqbal, 24, also of Cumbrian Way, got into the passenger side of the victim’s car and started attacking him with a tyre iron, also stealing his phone.

The victim suffered an arm injury and there was also significant damage caused to his vehicle.

Yasin and Iqbal were charged with the offence on July 4, 2017, and sentenced last Friday (February 15), police confirmed this week.

Yasin was found guilty by unanimous verdict of one count of dangerous driving, one count of affray, one count of having an offensive weapon and one count of criminal damage.

He was sentenced to a total of three years and eight months behind bars.

Iqbal was found guilty by unanimous verdict of one count of affray, one count of having an offensive weapon, one count of criminal damage and one count of robbery.

He was sentenced to a total of four years and six months in jail.

Investigating officer detective constable Manminder Purewal, based at Maidenhead police station, said: “This was a serious assault which left the victim with injuries and significant damage to his vehicle.

“Yasin and Iqbal have both received prison sentences and I hope that this serves as a warning as to the consequences of carrying out assaults.”
