A £5.3m investment to improve the road junctions around Maidenhead has been approved by the Thames Valley Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Alongside £4.2m from the LEP, the council have set aside £1.1m to improve six roundabouts in the town as part of the wider regeneration programme.

Work is set to begin in the Autumn and the junctions which will be upgraded and improved are:

• A308(M)/A308/A330/ The Binghams (Braywick roundabout)

• A308/Rushington Avenue/Stafferton Way roundabout

• A308/A4 Castle Hill roundabout

• A4/B4447 (Cookham Road roundabout)

• A4/B3028 (Oldfield Road roundabout)

• A4/A4094 Ray Mead Road (Guards Club roundabout)

Councillor Simon Dudley, leader of the council and lead member for Maidenhead regeneration and Maidenhead, says: “I am delighted that we have received this funding and the work will help the town as it grows through the regeneration programme. It is important that we ensure the infrastructure is in place before the housing developments are completed.”

Councillor Phill Bicknell, lead member for highways, transport and Windsor, added: “I am delighted that we have been successful in another bid to the LEP.

“This is important work that will make the journey through Maidenhead much easier by changing the way the roundabouts work with the flow of traffic and the anticipated increase of traffic with the regeneration programme.

“The level of work required significant investment and I am pleased that the LEP recognised that work and how this will benefit residents and commuters.”
