The Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service is encouraging its thrill-seeking supporters to make a big 'leap of faith' this May - by jumping from 10,000 feet to raise money for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

The Devine Daredevils tandem skydive challenge will take place in Ipsden, Oxfordshire, just 45 minutes from Maidenhead with sponsorship money raised going towards the charity's work in the community - and of course towards its recently opened children's hospice in Maidenhead.

There are limited places available to take part in the jump and among those already signed up is George Torpey, a community fundraiser with Alexander Devine.

‘Torpedo Torpey’ as he is now affectionately known within the hospice, said: “It is not something I have previously thought about doing but when the opportunity came up, it was something I didn’t want to miss out on. I am definitely stepping out of my comfort zone but it will be worth it if I can raise lots of money for all the amazing children and their families that we support. Hopefully thinking of the challenges they face every day will help curb my nerves.”

Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice is asking those wanting to take part to pay a £50 deposit and raise a minimum of £395 sponsorship, which includes the cost of the jump.

Community fundraiser Susie Knowles said: "This is an amazing opportunity to not only tick something off your bucket list and at the same time raise money for such a worthwhile local charity. Every day our hospice service supports and cares for incredibly brave children and families. Can you be brave for just a short time to show your support for them?”
