Music and magic brought extra flavour to the 'silver lunch' enjoyed by 110 elderly guests of the Windsor Lions on Sunday.

The guests were transported by volunteers from the charity fund raising club to and from the SportsAble headquarters in Bray Road, Maidenhead.

A two course lunch had been prepared by the Lions team led by the club's own 'chef de cuisine' Graham Alston and was served by members, their family and friends.

The event had an Old Time Music Hall theme with a full blooded sing-song led by the renowned key board and song artist Phil Phillips who has accompanied such world-famous stars as Bruce Forsythe.

The magic was provided by Danny from Red Hat Magic. He is a member of the Magic Circle and was voted best private events magician for 2018.

The Mayor of the Royal Borough Cllr Paul Lion and Mayoress Laura Lion were welcome guests at the lunch.

Lion president Diane Purchase organised the event, which rounded off in the traditional manner with a rousing chorus of We’ll Meet Again.

She said: “It is probably one of the club’s most worthwhile events of the annual calendar. There is so much fun and bonhomie. Our members love doing it and of course our guests have a whale of a time."
