Slough’s new leisure facility, The Centre, officially opened to the public on Monday.

The first visitors to The Centre got to test out the new leisure facility following a 28 month build. The Centre is the largest project of the £62m ‘Slough Urban Renewal’ and has been designed to meet the the increased demand from Slough residents.

The new leisure facility has led to the closure of the former Montem Leisure Centre, which closed for the final time on Sunday. The Centre offers a range of facilities, including two swimming pools, a gym, four-court sports hall, a sauna, a steam room, three exercise studios and a café.

Alison Hibbert, leisure services manager at Slough Borough Council, said: “We are so delighted The Centre is now open for residents to enjoy.

“The facilities really are fantastic and I can’t wait to see them in use. If you are thinking about joining, why not pop down and have a look at what is on offer.”

On Saturday 13th April, The Centre will celebrate the opening with an open day. Local residents will have the opportunity to try the new leisure facility for free.

Sally Thomas-Ellis, area contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “The Centre is a truly impressive facility and I’m delighted that the public can now enjoy it.

“The open day is a fantastic opportunity for people to come and try out their new facilities for free. I’d encourage everyone to come along and see what we have to offer.”
