Since making his first steps into the national conscious having starred on the X-Factor, Slough’s Nate Simpson has had a journey many would envy.

One of the most exciting moments in the young stars career will come today however, with the release of ‘Hurt’. The single will be Nate’s first since his stints on both the X-Factor and on Eurovision: You Decide.

Speaking on the release, Nate said that the single will be different to much of the music in today’s charts.

“The single is very raw and very soulful. It is music with the intent to provoke thought. It explores life, love and all the real things that people go through.

“I don’t like to define my music. I like it when people can work out what the music means to themselves. Music is all about the listeners interpretation. For me, my goal has always been to make music that means something.”

Nate has also appeared on the West End in Motown the Musical and has recently announced that he will be joining the cast of Lion King in Paris. Speaking on the development of his career, Nate said:

“The shows have come at the right time and have given me the opportunity to do things at the speed and level I have always wanted to do. To get to perform in from of 1500 people every night at Shaftesbury Theatre every night is incredible, I feel blessed.”

As he always has throughout his career, Nate has maintained a love of his local area, the area that helped form him into the musician he is today. It has been confirmed that he will appear at both the Henley Festival and for a gig at Maidenhead’s Norden Farm.

“I have performed in this area for the past 13 years or so and I know a lot of people. There are a lot of familiar faces, which is nice, and it makes it feel very homely and very familiar.

“I am lucky that my career has allowed me to travel all over the world and as a result. Music is music at the end of the day, and I think performing in New York is not actually that different from performing in London.

“For me there will always be something special about performing in the local area. It’s where I’m from, it’s where my grandparents are from, I know people I went to school with. It feels like where it all began.”

Nate's new single Hurt is now available.
