For the first time, The Curve in Slough will mark Autism Awareness Week with a range of events as well as the launch of new resources.

On Saturday, the events will start with an autism friendly screening of Sing! at 2pm. Access to a break out room will be provided, and lights will be kept on in the theatre offering relaxed expectations for all watching the film.

A range of events will follow over the course of the next week, including an ‘All About Autism’ conference on Tuesday, a special sensory story time for children with additional needs on Wednesday and an anger management workshop on Friday.

The Curve has also unveiled new autism friendly resources, including a magic table, a sensory wall and an autism spectrum book list.

Geraldine Smith, autism practise lead, said: “Slough Borough Council in partnership with The Curve and Autism Berkshire‎ is excited to be bringing Autism Awareness Week to Slough this year. We have so many local partners working together to bring residents an informative and enjoyable week of events, talks and drop in sessions all under one roof.

“The Autism Berkshire 'All about Autism' conference on Tuesday 2 April will be particularly interesting with so many local speakers in the autism field coming to speak.”
