Queen Street is set to re-open this afternoon after a fire at a derelict night club last month led to demolition works in Maidenhead town centre.
Shortly before 2am on the 12 March, the blaze started at the site of the disused Roma night club. No casualties were reported, but firefighters had to cope with challenging hazards as they attempted to control the fire. These included carbon dioxide cylinders, falling cement, asbestos and a collapsed roof.
Since the fire was brought under control, teams have begun work demolishing the former nightclub. The council confirmed on Twitter this morning that Queen Street will reopen at 4pm today following the successful completion of these demolition works.
