Some of Great Britain’s Olympians will be in attending the community open day at Slough’s new leisure facility, The Centre.

On April 13, Colin Jackson will be joining a day of activities at the new leisure centre to mark it’s opening. The former world champion previously visited Langley Leisure Centre last year following its own extensive refurbishment.

Alongside a Q&A session, the Olympian will be signing autographs from 12.30 – 1pm. He will then test the new facilities for himself when he takes part in a series of challenges from 1-2pm on the facilities unique LED floor.

London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic finalist Katie Clark and London 2012 water polo captain Craig Figes will be tutoring youngsters in the free ‘Oceans of Fun’ event from 2 - 4.45pm.

The event will give children between the ages of 7-14 the chance to learn a number of new aquatic skills. Each discipline will be led by one of the expert athletes, and participants will also be given the inspiring opportunity to race against them.

Sally Thomas-Ellis, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: “We are so excited to be hosting this event. It is a fantastic opportunity for people from across the borough to come and experience the brilliant facilities The Centre has to offer free of charge.

“We have received a lot of positive feedback since the doors first opened two weeks ago, and I hope this event encourages more people to make the most of their new flagship facility.

“Having Colin Jackson back with us is amazing, and the Oceans of Fun events at both The Centre and Langley Leisure Centre offer a really unique opportunity for people to get active alongside some of the country’s top athletes.”

Langley Leisure Centre will also be hosting an event in the morning from 10.30 – 1.15pm.
