Concerned High Wycombe residents have spoken out after a shock double stabbing and suspected shooting in the town this week.

Police were called to Desborough Road at 12.20pm yesterday (April 3) after a 21-year-old man was left with “serious injuries” when he was stabbed in the town centre shopping street.

People working in shops along Desborough Road said they were not surprised when police descended on the street – as they regularly see officers working in the area.

Police were called to Desboroough Road yesterday

Owner of Phone Repairs, Amjed Malik, said: “We weren’t told what happened - we just saw the police on this corner and the other corner. This is not the first time – a couple of days ago we heard a group of guys they beat another guy here.

“Somebody broke my car window just four or five days ago.

“This is now a regular thing, shops are closing. Nobody stays here on this road. They open then within six months they are gone.”

Bobby Singh, who works in Food and Wine, said he was “astonished” there had been a stabbing – and recalled seeing police search bins outside the store following yesterday’s incident.

He said: “I have seen quite a lot of police here. I have seen police in a group they were searching the dustbin here and the one next to the bus stop here and there were three police officers around the corner – so 10 in total.

“Police are quite common in this area – this is not a good area. It is not a new thing. When somebody said it was a stabbing it was quite astonishing. It’s not nice.”

Officers were then called to two separate incidents in the early hours of this morning (April 4) - the first at around 12.05am in Queens Acre amid reports a 17-year-old boy had been stabbed.

He is also being treated in hospital for serious injuries.

Later, at around 12.50am, police believe a weapon was fired through the window of a home in Tenzing Drive – however officers have confirmed no-one was injured in the incident.

A Tenzing Drive resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said: "Usually it’s quite quiet around here – I don’t understand it. It’s really pretty good around the area.”

Police believe all the incidents are linked.

A police spokesman said members of the public are likely to see an increased police presence while officers are at the scenes carrying out an investigation, and that they are working to arrest those responsible.

Anyone with any information relating to these incidents is asked to call the 24 hour non-emergency number on 101.
