A Slough man has been fined more than £1,500 for fly-tipping in a country lane.

Gurpreet Singh, 38, of Goodman Park, was caught dumping a sofa at the side of Wexham Park Lane by CCTV installed by Bucks County Council.

BCC said it had installed cameras there because the area is a frequent target for fly tippers.

The court heard Singh used a company vehicle to dump the sofa. He was traced via the company vehicle and admitted to the fly-tipping.

He was fined £615, and ordered to pay total costs of £928.90, making a total to pay of £1,543.90. He will pay the amount in instalments.

South Bucks District Council’s cabinet member for environment, Luisa Sullivan, speaking on behalf of the Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire, said: “Surveillance of likely fly-tipping spots is a key part of our zero-tolerance approach to illegal dumping.

“If you choose to dump waste illegally, you may well be photographed in the act, which will then provide the evidence for a prosecution.

“It’s just not worth taking the risk of heavy fines and a criminal record.”
