Mystery surrounds the rescue of a young woman freed by firefighters in the early hours of this morning after being trapped for hours in a drainage ditch.

A dog walker heard her cries for help coming from the gulley at the recreation ground at Horton Road, Datchet at 7am.

They called the fire service and a crew from Langley arrived and pulled the women to safety, before wrapping her in blankets to keep her warm.

She is understood to be in her 20s and was too distressed to explain what had happened although she seemed to have been trapped for some hours.
