A 'pride' of eye catching, individually decorated lion sculptures will be greeting visitors to the Royal Borough from August to October - helping to raise money for the town's hospice.

The life-sized lion sculptures and mini-pride of school lion cubs will be decorated by talented artists, designers, celebrities and school children in a wide range of styles from fine art to mosaics, street art, illustrations and abstract designs.

Iconic British fashion and textile designer Dame Zandra Rhodes is one of the high-profile names already on board to design one of the lion sculptures in her own unique style.

Lion Trail maps will guide visitors on a voyage of discovery around the Royal Borough's historic streets, venues, shopping centres, heritage landmarks, independent shops, museums and local attractions.

After three months of entertaining lion fans of all ages, the giant pride will be auctioned in November and all profits from the events organised round the sculptures will be donated to local charities including the hospice in Hatch Lane.

The event team is now coordinating sponsorship opportunities and would love to hear from businesses, organisations and individuals who may be interested in sponsoring an eye-catching lion sculpture.

Megan Witty, event director said: “The Lions of Windsor will create a real buzz this summer and encourage thousands of residents and visitors to track down all of the lions in the pride. Lion sponsors will benefit from seven months of publicity, reaching new audiences, raising brand awareness, increasing footfall and helping local charities."
