Friendly lambs and chickens as well as a ventriloquist were among the unusual guests when a care home celebrated its 10th birthday with a party.

Care UK's Oak House in Forest Close, Slough welcomed local residents through its doors and home manager Yvonne Keating made sure nobody got bored.

The visiting lambs and chickens came from Ark Farm which specialises in taking animals out into the community.

Musical entertainment was provided by singer and ventriloquist Paul who kept the party atmosphere going all afternoon, while guests were invited to satisfy their sweet tooth with an ice cream van specially in attendance for the occasion - plus a birthday cake baked by the Oak House chef.

Manager Yvonne Keating said: “A lot of planning and preparation went into creating a fun day for residents, their families and the local community – and I’m delighted to say all the hard work was worthwhile. We all had a fantastic time and it was wonderful to see so many people from the local community celebrate the day with us.

“The last ten years have been a whirlwind. We’ve welcomed some real characters to the home, built relationships with brilliant local organisation and worked hard to create a real home-from-home environment for everyone who spends time with us here at Oak House."
