Housebuilding company CALA Homes (Chiltern) has announced the names of three charities that will benefit from its £2,000 community bursary.

The money will support children through difficult challenges.

It is being shared between the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service, the DASH charity and Daisy's Dream.

The Alexander Devine charity was set up by John and Fiona Devine in memory of their late son Alexander. It offers support in the home to families of children with life limiting conditions and last year achieved a 10 year dream by opening its own children's hospice in Maidenhead in the presence of Prime Minister Theresa May.

The Slough based DASH charity offers help and support to children who have suffered the consequences of domestic violence. While Daisy's Dream is a Berkshire based charity that supports children and families through the pain of bereavement.

Stuart Wallace, managing director at CALA Homes (Chiltern) said there had been an enormous response to the announcement that the bursary was being launched in Maidenhead.

He said: "We’ve been delighted to hear from so many local charities, schools, community projects and good causes in Maidenhead about the fantastic work that is being done. We’re looking forward to working with each of our selected charities over the coming months and seeing how each of them use the funds to make a real difference in the work they do.

“We would like to thank everyone who took the time to apply to the CALA Community Bursary, and congratulate each of them on the valuable work they are doing within the local community.”
