Witnesses are being sought after a police car’s windows were smashed with stones and a vans windows was smashed with a baseball bat in High Wycombe following an earlier altercation.

At around 8.45pm on April 23, a 21-year-old man was waiting at the kebab van on the junction of New Road and Cressex Road.

He was then approached by three men who got out of a car which pulled up next to him, leading to a verbal altercation. More men started approaching the group, with the situation escalating to involve between 15 and 20 men.

The same group of men then approached a house at 9.45pm in Booker Lane. The men were carrying weapons and making threats to those in the house.

Two of the men used baseball bats to smash the windows of a van parked outside the house.

Police arrived at the scene of the incident on Booker Lane and at around 11.40pm the windows of their car were smashed using stones. More officers arrived, with stones then thrown at the car whilst they were driving, damaging the roof.

No one was injured in the incident.

A 24-year-old man, a 30-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, a 34-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, all from High Wycombe, have been arrested on suspicion of three counts of criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon and affray.

An 18-year-old man from High Wycombe has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon, affray and possession of a prohibited automatic weapon.

A 13-year-old boy from High Wycombe has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a prohibited automatic weapon.

A 21-year-old man from High Wycombe has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of criminal damage, affray, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a prohibited automatic weapon.

A 27-year-old man from High Wycombe has been arrested on suspicion of three counts of criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon, affray and obstructing an officer in the execution of their duty.

All have been released on bail to appear at High Wycombe police station on 22 May.

Chief Inspector Graham Hadley, Deputy Commander for Wycombe police area, said: “This is a concerning incident and was understandably frightening for the victims. A thorough investigation is being conducted by my officers and arrests have already been made.

“At this time, we believe the people involved are known to each other and there is no threat to the wider public.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed any of this incident or who has any information about those people involved or the motivation behind this incident to come forward. Equally, if you live or work in the area and have any CCTV or dashcam footage, please let us know.

“Disorder such as this is not tolerated in Wycombe and I urge anyone who can help us keep these weapons and this unacceptable behaviour off our streets to make contact.
