THE sun was shining as the popular Hyde Heath fete returned at the weekend - and organisers hailed the event as “fabulous”.

Fete-goers enjoyed an array of events on Saturday, May 11 - including crafts, gift stalls, tombolas and raffles, face painting and hours of fun on the entertainment stage.

Hyde Heath Common was awash with families basking in the sunshine as performers took to the stage including Amersham Music Centre Choir.

Meanwhile, children and parents got stuck in with a line dancing taster, got up close to friendly alpacas and marvelled at some impressive vehicles at the classic car show.

After working up an appetite, there was plenty of delicious food and drink on offer including paella, fish and chips, pizza and ice cream - as well as a beer tent and refreshments marquee.

And there were eyes to the skies as an impressive Spitfire aircraft did a fly-past over the family fun day.

Organisers hailed the event as a huge success, saying: “Wow, what a fabulous day. Thanks go to you all - everyone who attended, everyone who helped, everyone who performed, food vendors, stall-holders, the weather - everyone. Well done.”
