Climate campaigners are calling on people to join them outside Maidenhead Town Hall next week - as they press councillors to declare an Environment and Climate Emergency.

The rally is being supported by members of Plastic Free Windsor.

Paul Hinton, community lead for Plastic Free said: “I've become involved in the fight against climate change because of the devastating impact we are all having on our planet. The science says that this is a climate emergency and I believe the science. I hope that people from all across the borough come and join us outside the Town Hall on May 24 – it’s time to demand action from our elected councillors.”

Paul is also a founder member of the RBWM Climate Emergency Coalition, which now includes over 110 local people as group members. Already 1,200 local residents and workers have signed a petition asking councillors to declare an Environment and Climate Emergency.

The petition calls on the council 'to declare an Environment and Climate Emergency, ensure all current and future policies are consistent with averting further climate change and ecological collapse, and put in place a plan to reduce carbon emissions in the Borough to net zero by 2030.'
